Overview:
Students observe school scenes at Deai schools, both those with and without school uniforms. Students describe the clothes that the Deai students are wearing.

Observing school scenes in Deai: Schools with or without school uniforms
Showing the Deai photo YY-D09, the teacher asksどこですか, 何をしていますか. After confirming that the students understand the photo was taken during a lesson at school, the teacher shows another photo, SM-D04, and asks questions designed to help identify similarities between the two photos. Put these photos up on the whiteboard and draw the students' attention to their clothes by asking 学生はどんなふくをきていますか. The students point out that one wears a school uniform and the other does not.

Showing the following photos one by one, the teacher asks        さんの学校はせいふくがありますか. The teacher then divides them into two categories and puts them up on the whiteboard: 1) Schools that have uniforms せいふくがあるがっこう (SM-D04, MY-D08, TS-D02, YK-D08, YT-P03) and 2) Schools that do not have uniforms せいふくがないがっこう (YY-D09, OK-D07).

Note:
Although the noun modification structure is not a focal point in this lesson, it would be helpful for the teacher to write down the following sentences on the whiteboard and explain the simple structure of noun modification.
せいふくが あります + がっこう ⇒ せいふくが ある がっこう
せいふくが ありません + がっこう ⇒ せいふくが ない がっこう


Divided into 7 groups, the students in each group receive a photo of one of the Deai students at school. As a group, the students prepare for a show-and-tell presentation by filling in Worksheet #1_1 - #1_7. The teacher checks around and helps each group when they need new descriptive words. Showing the group's photo, a representative of each group describes the clothes that the student in the photo is wearing.

    さんの学校は制服があります。
白いブラウスを着ています。
リボン/タイをつけて/しています。ベストをきています。
スカートをはいています。
黒いハイソックスをはいています。
くつをはいています。

* (Depending on the class level, you can also use the imperative forms:
白いブラウスを着なければなりません。リボンタイをつけなければなりません。)
    さんの学校は制服がありません。
    さんはピンクのサマーセーターを着ています。
