April in Japan marks the start of a new fiscal year and the new school year. People can't help smiling when they see how big the standard school satchels--randoseru--look on the backs of the spirited little first-graders on their way to school.
Our Click Nippon News was published monthly on the first and third Thursdays until March, but from this month, it will be sent once a month. We will mainly introduce class ideas making use of the articles published in Click Nippon's My Way Your Way articles.We welcome contributions of lesson plans based on My Way Your Way articles. 【1】Copying the Idols
Do you have "idols" in your country? Do you have any special idols that you support? In this issue, we introduce university students who copy and perform idol dance routines on the stage. What is their motivation? Where does their passion come from? Let's read on.

■ Essence of this article
• One of the attractions of being a fan of idol entertainers is the satisfaction of watching someone who may not be that good at singing or dancing at first work hard and steadily become a successful professional entertainer.
• Joining the club and being given tasks involving certain responsibilities enabled me to grow as a person.
• I want to tell people in other countries about Japan's culture of idol entertainers.

1. Questions to help students' comprehension
a) What is "UNIDOL"?
b) How do we know that this event is very popular?
c) How did SPH mellmuse start? How did it develop into "UNIDOL"?
d) Why did Miamia and Reika join this club?
e) What is it about chika-aidoru--the "underground" idols--that attract Miamia?
f) Explain how idol dances are different from other styles of dancing.
g) What is the role of the "quality judgment"("shitsu saiban") conducted by the club? How does Reika feel about it?
h) Miamia said that she has become more independent-minded. [-->...she has become a more independent person.] What experience made that possible?
i) Do you think Miamia will continue this activity in future? Why do you think so? Support your answer by referring to the article.

3. Creative tasks
q) Miamia and Reika are practicing hard for the next UNIDOL. Write a message to them to support and encourage them.
r) Imagine Miamia and Reika are your friends and they are visiting your country. They want to see a concert of a popular idol of your country. What kind of concert would you take them to see? In pairs, discuss which concert you'd like to take them to. Then write a message to Miamia and Reika about which concert you are going to take them to and your reasons.
