担任の堤先生が監督をしていることもあって、バスケットボール部に入部しました。バスケットボール部の練習はきついので、選手としてはついていけないと思って、最初はマネージャーをしていました。でも、部員が足りなくて選手になってしまいました。現在、部員は5人で、試合ができるギリギリの人数です。
毎日4時15分から6時30分まで練習します。監督は頭をつかったプレイを信条にしています。わたしも作戦を考えるのはとてもおもしろいと思います。ほかの部員は中学生のときからバスケットボールをやっているので上手なのですが、わたしは体がまだまだ思うようについていきません。

I joined the basketball club, partly because our homeroom teacher, Tsutsumi-sensei is the club's coach. Basketball practice is really hard and I didn't think I could keep up, so at first I chose to be a "manager" who helps players with the equipment and other jobs. But there weren't enough players, and ultimately I had to join the team. Right now, we have only five players, barely enough to play games with other clubs.
We practice every day from 4:15 to 6:30. Using your head while you play is our coach's creed. I find devising strategies for plays really interesting. The other team members have all been playing basketball since junior high school and they are pretty good at it, but I still can't get the moves right.
