Concerning Copyright

The photographs in this databank may be used freely without copyright
charges as long as they are used for educational or other non-profit
purposes. They can, for example, be downloaded, copied, and
modified (e.g., enlarging or reducing their size, inserting
balloons for writing in words or phrases), in order to produce
and distribute worksheets and OHP film. |

The copyright of the photographs belongs to TJF. When used
for the purposes described above, permission need not be expressly
obtained, but we ask that as much as possible, the source be
given, as "The Japan Forum" or "TJF Photo Data
Bank." |

from the Japan Forum for use of the photographs in any textbook,

Regarding the photographs used in the TJF's "Daily Lives
of Japanese High School Students: Photo and Message Contest,"
only those whose use is permitted by both the photographer
and the subject are available for download here. Regarding
the captions for the photographs, some are written by the
photographers and then edited by TJF, but most were written
by the TJF staff.
