ほとんど毎晩、綾子と電話で話をします。ぼくのほうから電話をかけることが多いと思います。その日にあったことや考えたこと、演劇などについて話をします。彼女とは、「思想の交換」をしている感覚です。たいてい1時間くらい話をしますが、ときどきもっと長電話になって電話代が高くなってしまうのが問題です。

Almost every night I talk to Ayako on the phone. It seems like I'm the one who usually does the calling. We talk for about an hour--about the events of the day, about drama, and so on. I feel as if we are engaged in a kind of "philosophical exchange." The problem is that our calls are sometimes longer than an hour and the charges are really high.
