お母さんは編みものが好きで、セーターを編んではおばあちゃんにあげたりしています。このあいだ、「マフラーを編んであげようか」と言われたのですが、断りました。高校生にもなって、母親の編んだマフラーをするというのは、ちょっと気恥ずかしくて……。もちろん、小さいころ、たぶん小学1、2年生までは、お母さんの編んだセーターを着ていました。
最近は、土曜の午後、地元のコーラスグループでコーラスの練習をしています。
お母さんも植物や動物が好きなので、ぼくと話があいます。お母さんは、ぼくにとってよき相談相手であり、よき理解者だと思っています。

My mother loves knitting. She often knits sweaters and things for my grandmother. She offered to knit me a muffler the other day but I had to refuse. When you get to be a high school student, it's kind of embarrassing to go around wearing a muffler knitted by your mother! When I was small--around first or second grade--I remember wearing a sweater my mother had knitted for me.
Recently, she has started singing with a local choral group on Saturday afternoons.
My mother loves plants and animals also, so our interests match. She is the person I consult about most things and the one who understands me best.
