Clothing and Fashion
Overview:
Students learn to state the reasons for their likes and dislikes, to describe clothing, and to express frequency. They also gain a deeper knowledge about fashion trends among their Japanese peers, and compare these trends to their own sense of fashion.

Ideas for Projects
(1) Students discuss their favorite fashion or colors to wear, and write about their preferences.

(2) Students pick out the clothes they like from the Deai photos and comment on them in writing.

(3) Students assess the degree of coolness of the Deai students' clothes and fashion sense.

(4) Students discuss their favorite fashion using picture clippings from fashion, sports, and movie magazines.

(5) Using the photos of 茶髪/ルーズソックス from Deai, students express their opinion about these styles. Students talk about fads among the young people in their own culture.

(6) Students observe and discuss a current fashion trend in Japan, comparing it to their own culture.

(7) Viewing the photos related to the Japanese Students' fashion from the TJF Photo Contest, students learn about what Japanese students wear and what sort of thoughts or consciousness they have about their appearance.
