Worksheet #2

Employing a few basic concepts (such as Coolness, Identity, and Formality), students examine and compare the appropriateness of two cases: a) せいふく (uniforms) and b) しふく (plainclothes), or in other words, having or not having school uniforms. They compare and contrast the two on each concept continuum on Worksheet #2.

The students discuss whether they prefer a school with or without uniforms.

せいふくがある学校とせいふくがない学校とどっちが好きですか。
どうしてですか。
After the class discussion, the students write their own opinions with supporting reasons. Corrected by the teacher, the students' answers are categorized and recorded in two columns or on two posters, one marked "for"and one marked "against" a school uniform system.

わたしはせいふくのある/ない学校がいいです。 からです。
