Message from the photographer

We’ve spent most of our high school years together—at the same school, the same department, the same class for all three years, and the same school club. Honami is the club president and she’s powerful and dynamic, is driven by intuition, and has the ability to get others moving. But sometimes she can be selfish or unyielding in a way that’s unique to youngest children, saying things without hesitation. She’s an elusive person, and it’s hard to know what’s she’s thinking. She’ll refuse to say the most important things, trying to resolve things with a quick “uh-huh.” That’s something I don’t like about her. I’m so happy, though, to have been able to spend my high school years with Honami. I can say from the bottom of my heart that I’ve been lucky.

About the subject

My friend Honami, who I met in high school, has a magical charm that I’ve never encountered before.
