Message from the photographer

What Erika has enjoyed the most since she was a little kid is to dance. Her favorite moment is when she's on the stage, dancing. Apparently, she's completely obsessed with it. She gives extra attention to her costumes, and doesn't make any compromises when it comes to looking her best on stage. I was taken aback when I first saw her in a dance costume. I was even more taken aback when she started dancing in the costume. But usually, she's just an ordinary high school kid. An assuming girl from the sticks. Even when she leaves our town for the big world outside, I'll always be cheering for her.

About the subject

No matter the time or place, she's an upbeat girl. That's part of the reason why I chose her to be the subject of my photo essay, but more than anything, I was drawn to the passion she has for dance.
