Message from the photographer

Dedicated and drenched in sweat, she has a dead-serious expression on her face as she pours heart and soul into dance practice. She's so alive, so powerful, and so beautiful. But once practice is over, she's just an ordinary girl with an amazing smile—which I find attractive in a way different from when she's dancing. There's the side of her face that I glance over at as we walk home from school, the way she combs the hair out of her face with her fingers, her huge grin. I'm drawn to all of it, and I adore her.

About the subject

This girl with the dimpled smile is in her second year of high school. She's a member of Osaka's top school dance club, and takes part in intensive training, day after day.
