Changing our shoes    3/5  | 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 |
  Notes:

Upon arriving at school, students take off their street shoes (sotogutsu) and place them in the shoe lockers (getabako) at the entrance, then change into their indoor shoes (uwabaki). Each student has his or her own shoe locker.

Not many public elementary schools require their students to wear uniforms, although uniforms are commonplace at the middle and high school level.

"My uwabaki have gotten too small!"
These are the shoe lockers where we keep our shoes. When we get to school, we take off our sotogutsu (street shoes) and put on our uwabaki (indoor shoes). So as to help keep the school clean, we donft wear our street shoes indoors.
