"Janken pon.""Aiko de sho."
There was an extra coffee-milk left at lunch because someone was absent. We only have coffee milk about once every month, and it's very popular, so everybody is dead serious. The person who wins janken gets to drink the last coffee milk.
When we have to make decisions we often use janken, like when we need to choose someone to be "it" for a game or when we need to decide what order to do things in. When there's milk or bread left over because someone is absent, the people who want it do janken. When we play janken, we make our hands into gu, choki, or pa. Gu stands for rock, choki stands for scissors, and pa stands for paper. We call out "jan ken pon" to play, and when two or more of us has the same hand shape, we say gaiko de sho," ("it's a draw") and play again.
