Report card
通知表
つうちひょう

A report card issued to students and parents by schools at the end of each term showing the student's grades or marks in each subject, comments on conduct, attendance record, and physical condition. These reports are not regulated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology, as is the confidential report, and their form is left up to the individual school. In the past, report cards followed a five-grade, norm-referenced evaluation system as used in the confidential report, but an increasing number of schools have adopted a different evaluation method, using written evaluations or specific content-referenced criteria.
