Izenajima Island
伊是名島
いぜなじま

Island located northwest of the main island of Okinawa. Known as the birthplace of King Sho En, founder of the second Sho dynasty of the Ryukyu kingdom, it has a number of important scenic spots and sites of ancient monuments. Size: 15.4 (sq. k.), pop.: approx. 2, 000 (2001). The major industries are agriculture and fisheries.
