ひめゆりがくとたい
A special nursing corps created for the defense of Okinawa at the end of World War II. Teachers and students of the First Prefectural Women's High School and Okinawa Normal School women's division were virtually forced to join the corps, and many of them ended up committing suicide as the war entered its final stage.
